*** Fostered in Kissimmee, FL ***
Meet 'MOOSE' as Nimbus' foster fondly calls him.  What else do you call a big ol' clumsy, very lovable galumph of a dog?
Moose (aka Nimbus) is a pure bred standard Eskie......quite large at about 45 pounds, and still heavier than he should be.  We think he would be much more comfortable around 38 to 40 pounds, but for a 'generous' boy, he is very energetic and playful, and moves just fine.  He can hop on to the seat of a truck with no issues and has no trouble sailing over a baby gate (as his foster discovered, to his dismay, upon his arrival).
He is just beautiful, though, and would be a wonderul addition to a younger, active family with or without teenagers.  Moose is a youngster, only 3 years old, so he still has a lot of jump and play in him.  While he would likely be fine with younger kids, he is kind of clumsy and exuberant, and might accidently knock them over.  Moose would love a family that likes to DO things and include him.  He gets along great with other dogs, so another dog for him to play with would be a plus.  A fenced yard is required for Moose.
Moose would benefit from basic training classes with his new owner.  He is food motivated which makes positive reenforcement training a very enjoyable experience for him (but keep those treats tiny....he still needs to lose some more weight!!)
Moose has lots to say and likes to bark, so he is not suitable for a townhouse or a home with very close neighbors.  He is afraid of thunder and loud noises (so July 4th won't be HIS favorite holiday) and he loves to go on car rides.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
